A Key to Sustainable Business Practices

EPR or Extended Producer Responsibility is a policy that mandates producers to manage the end-of-life disposal of their products after consumers have used them. This responsibility extends to the entire lifecycle of the product, from design and production to disposal or recycling.

1. Who is responsible for EPR compliance?

Producers (Manufacturers), importers, and brand owners (together referred as PIBOs) are responsible for EPR compliance, ensuring that their products are recycled or disposed of in an eco-friendly manner.

PIBOs must ensure recycling of minimum 50% of new plastic produced (Eligible Quantity) from FY 24-25 and must increase this to minimum 80% FY 27-28 onwards
